an interview-based book about neglect. By Lise Andersen
Trans. title: Uummat – stories from the heart
Lise Andersen met many pregnant women in her work as a nurse in Greenland. Several of these had had difficult childhoods, bad parents and/or other ways of neglect, and now they were facing becoming parents themselves and bringing a new life into this world. How did they find the strength? Lise asked herself. With help from the Children’s Home in Uummannaq she contacted ten former residents who agreed to tell their life stories. These heartbreaking and heartwarming stories are the centre of this book.
Lise Andersen had her author debut in 1991. Since then she has written more than 25 books – some of which works with the vulnerable people and sore subjects of society. Read more at www.lise-andersen.dk
